I am a parent at Adda Clevenger School who hired William Chadwick as a group tutor for the SSAT standardized test. William worked with nine 7th grade girls, including my daughter, coaching them on SSAT skills and background knowledge. For twelve weeks, he conducted a weekly session of 2 hours in one of the school's classrooms. The girls benefited greatly from his experience and tutoring expertise, as well as his style of teaching. He had a command of the classroom but in a relaxed and patient manner. He encouraged students to think for themselves and solve problems together, acting as a guide more than a focal point for their learning.

The objective of the class was to provide the students with a base knowledge of the test to prepare them for a benchmark test in June. William certainly achieved this. He kept them engaged and encouraged class participation. He worked through many test questions in class, picking them apart in detail. This really got the students to think about what was being asked and to understand the subtle nuances of this tricky test. He suggested strategies and study techniques to try at home, but did not overload them with homework. They were well on their way to independent study at the end of the course. When the time came, all were prepared for the test format and content. They had the confidence in knowing what to expect on test day. Overall, I highly recommend William as a teacher and tutor.
